Elizabeth Joan Lewis

Elizabeth Joan Lewis (nee Forsyth), age 89, passed away on September 12, 2023.  She was the beloved wife of John E. Lewis, Jr. (deceased); mother of John E. Lewis, III (Mary), Nina E. Riley (William), and Hope D. Brown (William).  She is survived by eight grandchildren - Angela, John, Brian, Robert, Elizabeth, Grant, Patrick, and William; and seven great-grandchildren - Owen, Ethan, Jameson, Harper, Nora, Palmer, and Emma; siblings Nancy Bradley (Pawley’s Island, SC) and William Forsyth (Williamsburg, VA).  Her sisters Dorothy Young and Barbara Baker predecease her.

Betty was born in Washington, DC in 1933.  She was raised in Mt. Rainier, MD.  She married in 1951 and moved to Riverdale, MD in 1957.  She was an Office Manager for 20+ years in a Medical Office before retiring to Laurel, MD, to help care for her grandchildren.  She then "retired" again and moved to Ocean City, MD, before returning to Laurel, MD, in the recent years.

Betty enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing many card games, sewing, watching Baltimore Orioles and Washington Football games, and sitting on the porch in Ocean City.  Many will miss her.

Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2023, from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113.  A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00am, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 3695 Rogers Avenue, Ellicott City, MD. 21043.  Interment will be private at a later date.   Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice or to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 8695 Rogers Avenue, Ellicott City, MD 21043.
