Douglas Lynn Ledford

January 3, 1956 — July 25, 2024

Odenton

On July 25th Douglas “Doug”  L. Ledford of Odenton passed peacefully after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of 31 years to Charlene “Char” A. Ledford (nee Adams); devoted father of Dallas L. Ledford; caring brother of Elmer “Reds” Ledford.  He was predeceased by his parents Alvin and Edith Ledford and his siblings Shirley Hadley, Kay Ruffner, and Al Ledford. He is survived by many loving family members and dear friends.

Doug was born in Maryville, Tennessee and worked as an electrician. He possessed an incredible artistic talent which revealed itself in his many oil paintings.  “Doug’s Oil Paintings” could often be seen at local fairs. He also enjoyed fishing and crabbing, especially with his cousin Mike. Doug enjoyed music, whether playing the guitar or listening to a wide variety of music from jazz, to classic rock, to the oldies.  A YouTube junkie, he watched everything from Deadliest Catch and Wicked Tuna to a variety of car shows. He liked cars and enjoyed cruisin’ with his nephew Mickey. Doug also enjoyed going to the casino and trying his luck on the slot machines. A friend to animals, he would feed the birds and deer that would frequent his yard and loved spoiling his beloved dog Mini and his brother Red's dog Scooter.  He had a sweet tooth that he liked to indulge, even if he knew he probably shouldn’t.

Doug truly had a love for life.  He never met a stranger, talking at length with everyone he met and making friends everywhere he would go. It was only fitting that he was a donor and shared that life with people he will never meet, helping them to continue to live the life he loved so much.

The family invites you to a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, August 10th from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, with a sharing time starting at 11:30 AM.
