Dorothy "Dottie" Lee Gallagher, age 85, of Pikeville, TN, formerly of Glen Burnie and Odenton, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010. Dorothy was born a Native American Lumbee Indian on May 6, 1925 in Lumberton, NC.
Dottie left North Carolina in her teens and came to Baltimore, MD to work at Bendix Radio after World War II. Later, Dorothy moved to Odenton, MD where she worked at the former Golden Flame restaurant, now called Perry's. She stated many times that it was the best job she ever had and loved her customers. Dottie was preceded in death by her two husbands, Francis L. Gallagher, a marriage of 27 years and Robert F. Clatterbuck, a marriage of 25 years. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, Post 160. Dottie wanted everyone to know that she had a great life and loved her family, friends, her wonderful nurses, Christy, Bradley and Thelma, and her devoted caregivers, Rhonda, Angie, Amy, Charity, Grace, Roni, Steph and Sarah very much.
Dottie is survived by her three children, Frances L. Jones, William L. Gallagher and Laura L. Arner; three grandchildren, William R. Gallagher, Thomas E. Jones and Wendy E. Sullivan and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Parkwood Cemetery in Baltimore, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pikeville SDA Church Pathfinder Club.
