Donald Steve Elliott of Columbia, MD passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Glen Hill Assisted Living in Dayton, MD, at the age of 71. Steve was born on November 27, 1943 in Cambridge, MD to John L. Elliott, Jr. and Elizabeth (Mills) Elliott.
Born in Cambridge and raised in Crocheron, Steve Elliott was a proud member of a family of Chesapeake watermen. His love for the Eastern Shore never left him and although he eventually settled in Columbia, he continued to work on the water, crabbing and fishing on his boat, Panope. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Steve became a coach and teacher at South Dorchester High School, Martin Luther King Middle School and Foulois Middle School. He was an accomplished tennis player all of his life and a Senior Olympian in his 60's. Steve always had a story to tell concerning the Eastern Shore, his parents and the people he knew as a young man. These were engaging, heartwarming, funny and always told with a knowing smile. We will miss them all....and of course the wonderful storyteller.
Steve is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane (Roby) Elliott; his children, Stephanie and John; his brother, Michael and his brother’s children Michele and David.
