On January 13, 2017, Donald C. Beckwith passed away at Johns Hopkins Hospital at the age of 85. Born in Hamilton Township, PA, Donald lived in Odenton, MD, since 2013 and was previous a resident of Sheffield, PA, since 1979. Devoted husband of 62 years to Mary J. Beckwith; beloved father of Donna M. Beckwith, Dennis W. Beckwith and his wife Cathy, Douglas E. Beckwith, Jeffrey C. Beckwith and his wife Ginger, Steven S. Beckwith, Jeanne M. Elberfeld and her husband Gregory, Barbara D. Dunn, Patricia A. Simeone and her husband John, and Laurie A. Barrow and her husband Fred; Loving brother of Robert Beckwith and his wife Jackie and Mary Jo Hannold; Cherished grandfather of 30 and great-grandfather of 22. Don was predeceased by his siblings Lenore Swanson, William Beckwith, and Janet Harbison.
Don proudly served his country as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant with the United States Army, serving during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, until he retired after 20 years of service. He then worked as a police officer for the Palmyra Police Department. Don was a member of the Order of the Purple Heart and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, and camping. He will be remembered for being the grandfather to everyone in his neighborhood. Most especially, he loved spending time with his family, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.
