Dolores E. Burden, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1942, Dolores was the beloved daughter of Stephen and Bridget Horgan.
Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and caring spirit touched all who knew her. She was married to Richard L. Burden, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and family.
She is survived by her children: Colleen Burden; Maura Jones (Tim); Sean Burden (Mona); and Brian Burden (Megan). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Patrick, Connor, Ethan, Erin, Brendan, Rachel, Abby, Kyle, Brady, Hunter, Declan, and Dublin, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Dolores is also survived by her sister, Racina Benoit of Wells, Maine. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael and Stephen Horgan, and her sister, Mary Anne Baker.
Dolores attended Ascension Catholic High School, where she earned her high school diploma, and later attended St. Vincent School of Nursing. She dedicated many years of service working at Kimbrough Army Hospital at Fort Meade, the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, and Tripler Army Hospital in Hawaii. Her dedication to caring for others reflected the compassion and selflessness that defined her life.
Family and friends will remember Dolores for her warmth, generosity, sense of humor, and love for her family. She treasured time spent with loved ones and created lasting memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD, 21113.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dolores’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Disabled Veterans National Foundation.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
