David L. Daughters

September 15, 1942 — January 5, 2015

David L. Daughters of Gambrills, MD, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, at the age of 72.  Dave was born on September 15, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late Glenn Oscar Daughters and Marjorie Ann (Taggett) Daughters.

Dave served in the United States Army on active duty from 1965 until 1977, including two tours in Vietnam. He achieved the rank of Captain and earned several awards to include the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Vietnam Armed Forces Honor and Service Medals and the National Defense Service Medal.  He then entered the Army Reserves while working for the National Security Agency. He retired from the Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1996, and from the NSA in 2006. He was active in several community groups including the Western District Anne Arundel County Police-Community Relations Council, the Four Seasons Security Patrol and the Four Seasons Community Association. He was endeared to his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved watching baseball and football, and gardening.

Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue Daughters; three sons, William Daughters and his wife, Donna, Kevin Daughters and his wife, Nicole and Brian Daughters and his wife, Lori and eight grandchildren, Hunter, Jordan, Morgan, Alexa, Jackson, Keirin, Patrick and Corbin.

The family will receive friends at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1283 Odenton Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.  A Committal Service will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD at 1:00 p.m.
