Conrad Calvillo Castro

November 26, 1937 — June 14, 2025

Conrad “Cas” Castro, a longtime Odenton, MD resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 14, 2025.

He was born to Bruno and Maria Calvillo on Nov. 26, 1937 in Lamont, Ca.

Conrad was a selfless, loving, hardworking, brave and wise husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be remembered for pride in his military service and love of family.

Conrad was an outgoing and friendly man who never hesitated to give a friendly hello and offer a helping hand to those who were lucky to meet him - however briefly.

He enjoyed family gatherings, his pets, dancing, listening to music, fishing, watching military documentaries and sports especially football and boxing.

Conrad was a career military man who served two tours in the Army in the Korean and Vietnam wars. In fact, he joined the Army at a young age in order to serve in the Korean War.

In his civilian career, he served as facility manager for Army hospitals along the east coast including the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center at Fort Meade. He had a strong work ethic and was a well liked and respected employee and boss.

Conrad was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Castro.

He is survived by his children Veronica Castro, Mia Painter, Guy Castro and Brenda (Joseph) Wallace. Grandchildren Jordan (Esmeralda), Luke, Faith, Ava, Olivia, Sofia, Christopher, Gracie and great grandchild Santiago “Chago.”

Conrad was also survived by his sister Mary Ellen (Steve) Ornalis and preceded in death by brother Pete Castro and sister Grace Castro.

Visitation will be held on June 30, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. in Odenton, Md. A funeral mass will be held on July 1, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Glen Burnie, Md with burial to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Md.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to make memorial contributions to the Vietnam Veterans of America and an animal charity of your choice.
