Clarence Eugene Purvis, 68, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, beloved Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother and Friend went on to his eternal rest on Monday, March 7th, 2022. Clarence was born on December 8th, 1953 in Martin County North Carolina and was raised in Baltimore, Maryland by his parents, Clarence and Shirley Purvis, both of whom preceded him in death. Clarence was a graduate of Baltimore City Community College. He worked at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab for 15 years as a Maintenance / Janitorial Technician.
An avid sports fan, Clarence’s favorite team was the Baltimore Ravens. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He actively supported his grandchildren in each of the sports and activities they were involved in and was regarded by many as a "Team Grand Pop".
Clarence will forever be remembered as a kind, loving and caring man and was affectionately known to his family as "Bubbles." He was passionate about the word of God and his immense love for his adopted daughter, April Jones and his grandchildren Asante and Cyan Montgomery and Armand Carter, with whom he diligently shared his knowledge and wisdom. Clarence was well-known as a source of encouragement and positivity and beautifully uplifted everyone he met. He had an infectious sense of humor, and his laughter, strength and guidance will be deeply missed. Though it seems unfair to so suddenly and unexpectedly lose such a man as Clarence his legacy and memory will live on in the hearts and minds of his family and all those he touched through his spirituality and loving heart. Clarence Eugene Purvis was truly one of a kind and is affectionately looked upon by his family as an angel whose unforgettable presence and spirit almighty God graced them with. In the words of the Apostle Paul, Clarence “fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith”. To those who loved him his presence will be missed more than words can say. But as is written in 2 Corinthians 5:8; “We are confident, I say, and would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord”.
Clarence is survived by his aforementioned daughter, April Jones and grandchildren Asante, Cyan and Armand; four sisters, Linda Queen, Clarinda Addison, Shelis Francis and Beverly Davis; three sisters-in-laws, Clara Garner, Rita Purvis and Dorothy Jones; three brothers, Kelvin Purvis, Carlos Garner, Laurence Jones; brother-in-law, Anthony Francis; two cherished aunts, Birdie Ray Little and Ollie Ruth Little; nephews, Conroy Dennis, Keith and Kevin Gayles, Gabriel, Andrew and Christopher Francis, DeAndre, De’Wayne, Delvon and Dominic Hiers, Marc and Michael Franklin, Lawrence and Davon Jones, Carlos Garner, Jr. and Ryan Garner; nieces, Natasha Francis, Danielle Hiers, Deasia Jones and Ryleigh Garner and a host of other cherished family and friends all of whom he loved.
