Claire Mary Taylor

Claire Mary Taylor (nee Melanephy), born March 5, 1940, in San Francisco, CA, passed away August 13, 2026, at St Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD, after a brief illness. Claire was a proud Navy wife to her husband of 63 years, John Taylor, and loving mother to her daughter Cynthia (Joseph) Canner and son John (Pamela Rose) Taylor, II. She was also a doting Grandma to her five grandchildren, Robert, Max, Cate, Cam, and Claire; and one great-grandchild, Logan.

Claire often bragged about her husband’s service as well as the exploits of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Claire was a faithful member of the church, being raised Catholic, attending Catholic school, and serving in various capacities in the Military Chapels she and her family attended as they moved with John’s career (including: volunteering with the youth group when her children were in middle- and high-school; cooking for many a church fellowship meal; and praying often for whomever she met). Claire is also survived by three nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Florence, and her siblings, Florence, Daniel, and Ruth, and two nephews. Claire loved others well, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial gathering will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home in Odenton, MD, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. Claire’s family requests, in lieu of flowers, that the money instead be used to spend time with your families.
