Cheruvari Kotieth Chandran (also known as "CK" to friends & colleagues), longtime resident of Bethesda, MD, left our world peacefully amidst his family at the age of 87. Husband of Akhila Chandran; father of Sushil Chander of Columbia, MD;Vinaya Simha of Columbia, MD; and Deepa Youssef of Rockville, MD; brother of Jaya Chandrasekharan of Chennai, India; six times grandfather of Tara, Ashwin, Dileep, Anjali, Maya and Nikhil. He was predeceased by his parents -Kousalya and Cheruvari Raghavan of Chennai, India and four siblings - Shantha, Krishnan, Karunakaran and Gajanan of India.
Born in Kerala, India, CK lived in the USA since 1971. He retired from the World Bank, Washington DC in the 1990s after a distinguished career in helping create many power and dam projects the world over. Prior to that, he served in Indian Government power and irrigation development organizations. He had a master's degree in engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and a bachelor's degree from the Guindy College of Engineering, India. His favorite sports were table tennis, badminton and cricket. Ever dedicated to his work, he was passionate about politics and history, and an astute analyst of human behavior. His is a legacy of hard work, sincerity and truthfulness.
