Charlotte Austin Davie

Charlotte Austin Davie of Odenton, MD, born November 17, 1939 in Watertown, NY lived a life of faith, compassion, humor, generosity, and love. Charlotte passed away at the age of 86, on August 1, 2026, of multiple chronic conditions. She was at home with family.

She was the daughter of Joseph L. Austin and Jesse N. (Henderson) Austin of upstate, NY. The family moved a few times before settling in Ballston Spa, NY. Charlotte graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1957. Then continued her education with three years of nursing school at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Upon graduation, she started her nursing career at University Hospital of the Good Shepherd in Syracuse, NY.

The great adventure of her life started in 1963 when she married then Airman First Class, United States Air Force, Michael C. Davie after meeting in Syracuse. Over the next 22 years the Air Force sent them to San Angelo Texas twice, West Berlin, Germany twice, Brindisi, Italy, and lastly Fort Meade, Maryland. Charlotte loved living in and exploring Europe during the family’s two overseas tours. Military friends became lifelong friends and family from state side enjoyed visiting them abroad. Their 2 oldest children were born during their first tour in Berlin. Their 3rd child was born in San Angelo, TX. Mike and Charlotte took advantage of their assignments in Germany and traveled extensively around Europe. Her favorite place in Germany was Heidelberg, and she loved the tulips of Holland.

Once the family settled in Maryland, Charlotte returned to nursing. She worked on the medical-surgical floor at Bon Secours hospital in Baltimore for more than 20 years. Charlotte was active at the Fort Meade Post Chapel and later the Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church in Odenton. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed by many.

Charotte lived a full life and made the most of every day. When her children were young, she sewed many of their clothes, made special birthday cakes, and took great interest in all their activities. She loved to support her grandchildren as they participated in sports, drama, music and other endeavors. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She loved listening to music and often asked a grandchild to create custom CDs of her favorite songs. She appreciated experiences with her family and generously took them to concerts and shows taking advantage of cultural opportunities in the area.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Donald L. Austin of Denver, CO, and her sister in-law, Arlene Davie of Ft. Edward, NY.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of 63 years Michael, their three children Joel (Lisa) Davie of Rockville, MD, Suzanne (Jim) Peters of Westminster, MD, and Laura Davie of Rochester, NH; the joys of her life- her five grandchildren- Emily (Zach) VanNostrand of Alburtis, PA, Samual (Sara) Peters of Union Bridge, MD, Zachary (Kathryn) Peters of Harrisonburg, VA, Mark Davie of Concord, NH, and Sarah Davie of Rockville, MD; the blessings of her life- her great-grandchildren- Macy, Austin, and Silas; her sisters Janet (Jerry) Robinson of Panama City Beach, Florida and Ann (Ed) Moore of Ballston Spa NY; sister-in-law Chery Austin of Denver CO; brother in -law Stephen Davie of Ft. Edward, NY; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would welcome donations in Charlotte’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research or Hospice of the Chesapeake.

A celebration of life will be on August 22, 2026 at Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church located on 8424 Piney Orchard Parkway, Odenton, Maryland. The family invites guests to begin gathering at 1:30. The formal celebration will begin at 2 PM.
