Charles B. Hands

On January 15, 2016, Charles B. Hands of Odenton, MD passed away at the age of 90. Devoted
husband of 59 years to the late Frances Hands; beloved father of Brian C. Hands of Chandler, AZ
and Nina F. Bruno of Babylon, NY. Cherished grandfather of 5; Connor, Margaret, Grace, Karissa
and Jacob.

Charles was a professor of English Literature for 40 years at Loyola University and taught
graduate school at Johns Hopkins University. He served in the Army Air Corp during WW II.
Thankfully due to the GI bill, he attended Kings College in Wilkes Barre, PA, earned his master’s
degree at the University of Pennsylvania and doctorate from the University of Notre Dame. He
was a longtime member of Potapskut Sailing Association and enjoyed years of sailing on the
Chesapeake Bay.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Odenton.
