Charles L. Bryant, a resident of Arundel Lodge in Edgewater, MD passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Glen Burnie Health & Rehabilitation Center, Glen Burnie, MD at the age of 70.
Charles was born on May 30, 1941 in Clintonville, West Virginia and was the son of the late Jack Bryant and Laura (Cruickshanks) Bryant, both who predecease him.
Charles worked on a farm and drove a truck for the most of his young adult life. He was a "country boy" Charles had several brothers and one sister. After Charles' accident at the approximate age of 40, he was unable to communicate effectively with others. The staff at Arundel Lodge, however, could understand most all he said. It was a combination of close listening and coaching Charlie to slow down when speaking. Charlie would reminisce about playing the guitar, working the farm, hanging with his brothers, shifting the gears on the big truck he drove, and having a drink or two at the local pub. Charles would often tell us that a "bottle of beer, Black Label Beer, costs 99 cents". He would also tell of his brother Marvin, whom he called ";Marvin Gardens", encounters in the war. Charlie attended Almost Family, and later, Active Day Medical Day Program for many years. He looked forward each morning to getting up, getting dressed, and getting on the bus. Charles was loved by his extended family at Arundel Lodge and his guardian, Jan Holland, from AAC Dept. of SS, who had served him well over several years. Mrs. Evelyn Johnson, who was Charlie's caretaker for at least the past 25 years; both in Crownsville and at Arundel Lodge will miss him dearly.
A Celebrations of Life will be held at Arundel Lodge, Inc., 2600 Solomon Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037 at a later date.
