Carol J. Nelson

On April 7, 2022, Carol Jean Nelson was called home to be with her Lord. She went peacefully surrounded by her family.  Beloved wife of 72 years to Clayton E. Nelson; Devoted mother of Deborah (Lynn) Faulconer, Valerie Herberger; and Darlene (Chuck) Fox. Cherished grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Keehn.

Carol devoted her life to her Lord and Savior. She was an active member of Chillum Heights/New Hampshire Avenue Gospel Chapel (NHAGC) since her teenage years.  Carol was a Sunday School teacher for 27 years at NHAGC. She served the Lord in many other capacities and enjoyed singing songs of praise and sharing her love of the Lord with those around her.

Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with family and friends. Clayton and Carol often spent their weekends together at yard sales and flea markets. She has left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her, and she will be sorely missed.
