Carol Anne Fitzgerald

December 20, 1940 — February 21, 2025

Carol Anne “DeeDee” Fitzgerald, a longtime resident of Crofton, MD, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. She was 84 years old. Born on December 20, 1940, in Washington, D.C., DeeDee was the daughter of the late Millard F. Zepp and Loretta (Rohrkemper) Zepp. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Louis A. Zepp.

After attending Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, DeeDee spent most of her working days as an administrative assistant for the Bell Atlantic phone company. Her hobbies included outdoor activities such as gardening and feeding the neighboring squirrels endless peanuts. She also loved picking her grandchildren up from school any chance she got, spending countless hours in the kitchen baking, and enjoying her vacations in the Outer Banks. She became a huge football fan later in life and could not get enough of watching and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs, mostly due to Patrick Mahomes. The greatest joy in DeeDee’s life was spending time with her family. Whether it was hanging out with her cousins in her younger years or adoring her grandchildren in her later years, DeeDee’s love for those closest to her was “more than the stars and the ocean.”

DeeDee is survived by her two loving daughters, Kathi Fitzgerald Thompson of Churchton, MD, and Colleen King, along with her husband Joe, of Crofton, MD; Nephew Louis C. Zepp; Cherished grandchildren, Carmela Spayd-Cozart, along with her husband Josh, Lauren “Luna” Minor, Tiffany, Joey, Matthew, along with his wife Brittany, Hunter, and Devin King; Great-grandchildren, Aidan Walsh, Savana, Duane Jr., and David Mokshefski; Her beloved Chihuahua, Bella.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
