Buenaventura "Ben" D. Madarang

Buenaventura “Ben” D. Madarang of Arnold, MD, formerly of Odenton, MD passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Riva Terrace Assisted Living in Arnold, MD, at the age of 82.  Ben was born on March 27, 1935 in the Philippines to the late Antonio Madarang, Sr. and Vincenta de Mesa Madarang.

Ben grew up in the Philippines before coming to the United States.  He studied and graduated from San Beda College where he often told stories of his days playing basketball for the College as the “star player”.  Ben worked for over 30 years at GEICO Insurance Company and was known for his hard work and dedication to his job and company.  Ben loved to fish with his family and he was often seen on the tennis courts with his wife Jeanne.  Ben was a devout Catholic who was strong in spirit, body and commitment.  Ben was a funny man who could often be heard joking with his brothers and sisters.  Ben believed his greatest blessing was his family.   He would beam with pride when he spoke of his children and grandchildren.  Family was Ben’s circle of strength bound together by love and God.

Ben is survived by his five loving children, Pat Madarang (Jennifer) of Pasadena, MD, Deanna Stasulli (Dan) of Severna Park, MD, Melbalynn Madarang (Peirce) of Darnestown, MD, Ben Madarang (Jaclin) of Severna Park, MD and Anessa Johnson (Dexter) of Severna Park, MD; eleven cherished grandchildren, Bailey, Gabrielle, Brianna, Kaila, Amaya, Trey, Sammy, Brody, Tyson, Talon and Ben William; two devoted sisters, Julita Dialino and Aurora Madarang; two devoted brothers, Antonio Madarang and Manuel Madarang.  Ben was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Jeanne M. Madarang and brother, Cesar Madarang.

The family will receive friends at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road, Rockville, MD 20853 on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 p.m.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093 or at www.alz.org/maryland .
