Bhanu, as she was known to her loved ones and friends, was one of five children born to Jivanlal and Kamalaben Shah in Mumbai, India. After graduating from Bombay University with a degree in teaching, science, and mathematics, Bhanu married Harivadan Shah on May 1, 1966. Together, they immigrated to the United States in 1978 with their two daughters, Trupti (age 13) and Bhavini (age 2).
Bhanu worked for over 20 years in the corporate offices of Choice Hotels International. Bhanu was an active member of her community and served others through activities at the Mangal Mandir and Swaminarayan Temple. Along with helping conduct religious ceremonies, Bhanu enjoyed teaching Gujrati to young children at the temple. Her faith and devotion to God kept her strong and guided her through many trying times.
Bhanu was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and cared deeply for her extended family throughout the United States and India. Bhanu is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law (Jaydeep Shah & Sandeep Sokhey) and her five grandchildren (Henna, Devin, Sureena, Priya, and Kareena).
