Barbara Lee Dorsey

August 26, 1960 — December 16, 2019

BARBARA (BARBIE) PAVLOVICH DORSEY, age 59 of Laurel, MD, passed on December 16th 2019 at her home. Barbara was born August 26, 1960, to Bob and Mary Pavlovich, in Inglewood,CA. She was raised and attended school in San Bernardino, CA; Rialto, CA;Holtville, CA; and also attended High School at Southern Senior High in Harwood,MD; before settling in Laurel, MD. Barbie had the opportunity to grow up all around the United States as her dad was a geologist with the Federal Government.

Barbara played her clarinet in the Holtville Marching Band in California. She struggled with mental illnesses since she was an early adult but was very open about it. She was always strong willed about her illness and never gave up. She met her husband Donell Chew in Maryland Manor in 1984. Their beautiful daughter was born in May 1995. Samantha was Barbie's pride and joy and she was very proud of all of her accomplishments especially Sami being the first person in their family to attend college.

Barbie worked a variety of jobs including payroll forDart Drug, being a stay at home mother, and a caregiver for her own mother, Mary, for several years. Traveling to all inclusive resorts was a joy to her! Barbie was also very knowledgeable, if you asked her anything she had the answers ready for you in seconds. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Lastly, she loved the family dog Duchess very much. Her extended family includedNancy Smith. They shared half their lives and even the holidays together. She is missed and loved greatly by so many.

Mrs. Dorsey is survived by her husband, Donell Chew; her daughter, Samantha Chew, her sister Danell (James) Powell, her uncle, Joseph Edgar, her nephews Joey, Kylen, Tyson and Austin, and her extended family Nancy Smith,Asayah Smith, Donald Smith, Charlene Smith, the late Crystal Smith, Jade Smith and Makai Smith. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Jack and LaVera Sinclair and Joseph and Myrna Heiland; her parents Bob and Mary Pavlovich; and Crystal Smith.

A Memorial Service  will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Carter United Methodist Church, 6715 Old Solomons Island Road, Tracys Landing, MD
