Audrey Mae Erickson, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother. Audrey was born on March 5, 1930 in Spring Valley, Wisconsin to Benjamin and Inez Swenson. She had two sisters, Beverly and Donna. She graduated college in River Falls, Wisconsin where she went on to become an educator in grade school, as well as teaching in Spring Valley, WI. She married her husband, Duane in 1952 and together had a son, John.
As a military family, they travelled the world, supporting her husband and son every step of the way. They eventually made their way to Japan where Audrey took interest in Ikebana flower arranging. This would be a lifelong endeavour, as she became a member of the Washington DC Sogetsu Branch upon her return from Japan. She created various displays for shows and provided demonstration, teaching new members and winning awards along the way. She eventually served as its president for 3 years. She was also an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, participating in multiple events over the years.
She passed away in the morning of November 26, 2025 in Glen Burnie, MD at the age of 95. She is survived by her husband, Duane, her sister, Donna, her grandson, and her nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held on December 15, 2025, 1:00 PM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockville, Maryland.
