Ascharj L. Dua

October 20, 1932 — December 18, 2011

Ascharj (Ash) L. Dua, a resident of Annapolis, MD, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD, at the age of 79. Ascharj was born on October 20, 1932 in Punjab, India and was the son of the late Kundan Dua and Ram P. Dua.

Ash was stationed in the Indonesia while in the Indian Foreign Service. He came to the United States in the 1960's as a graduate student. He received his Master Degree in Political Science from Howard University. He worked with the Department of Commerce, but for the most part was a self made entrepreneur. He enjoyed traveling and listening to Ghazals.

Ascharj is survived by his loving children, Prem (Pam) Dua of Owings Mills, MD and Sanjay (Sonny) Dua and his wife Uma of Marietta, GA; wife, Phyllis Dua; four sisters, Karma Wali Sakuja, Raj Chhabra, Kamlesh Sachdeva and Prem Suri; four brothers, Mukand Dua, Kewal Dua, Mohan Dua and Shyam Dua; two grandchildren, Mitchell and Tyler Dua.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 and the Sisters of Charity, 818 N Collington Ave., Baltimore, MD 21205
