Anna Mayberry

Anna Marchuk Mayberry, daughter of Michael Marchuk and Eva Beca, fell asleep in the Lord on February 25, 2023 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Frederick, MD.  She is survived by her two daughters Tina Parrish and Hope Worley (Don Worley). She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Anna was predeceased by her sister Helen Fanning of Hyattsville, MD, her brother Vladimir Marchuk of Edison, NJ and her grandson Timothy Parrish of Poolesville, MD.

Anna graduated from Bound Brook High School, Bound Brook, NJ in 1935 and received her BS in education from the New Jersey State Teachers College at Trenton, NJ, class of 1939 and her Master’s degree from American University in Washington, D.C.  Anna was an elementary school teacher in Manville, New Jersey and then in Montgomery County, Maryland until her retirement in 1979.

Anna liked to travel and go to the beach which she did often throughout her life.  She also enjoyed all kinds of needlework, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles and was a voracious reader.  Anna was also a founding member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral and War Memorial Shrine, in Washington D.C. where she sang in the choir and attended services.  She served as the secretary of the St. Nicholas choir and was a member of the orthodox social club FOCA (Fellowship of Orthodox Christians.).

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Mark Orthodox Church, 7124 River Road, Bethesda, MD 20817. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will be privately held at Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery near her hometown of Manville, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral and National War Memorial Shrine, 3500 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Washington, DC 20007.
