Odenton

Ambrose DePanise (De) of Odenton, a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away in Annapolis, MD on February 4, 2022 at the age of 88.

Ambrose Frank DePanise was born May 12, 1933 in Bronx, NY, son of Americo and Josephine DePanise (Tranquillo). He moved to Bridgeport, CT,  and attended Warren Harding High School, where he met and fell in love with Sally. Sally & Ambrose were wed for 58 years. In 1952 he enlisted in the Airforce serving in Turkey for 4 years during the Korean War. He returned to civilian work, then transitioned to the National Security Agency in the Telecommunications group in Ft Meade, where he continued to work until his retirement. Ambrose was a life long fan of Yankees baseball and also had passions for photography, art, painting, and was an avid lover of a Starbucks coffee and a good cheese danish. He also enjoyed running, swimming, spending time by the ocean and enjoyed sharing his smile, stories and humor with all.

Ambrose is survived by his children Frank & Claire (Meyer) DePanise of Tucson, AZ,  Anthony & Ellen (Stoops) DePanise of Queenstown, MD and  Andrea DePanise & Steve Lovett of Annapolis, MD., sisters Marie Balcastro and Louise Oesau, and brother in law Rudy Abelli of Connecticut.

Ambrose is preceded in death by his loving wife Sally Ethel DePanise (Naber), and sister Anna Abelli.

He was always so proud of his grandchildren, Meg DePanise & Justin Everett, Aaron Lovett, Emma DePanise, Jordan Lovett and Grace DePanise.  They truly made his heart beam. He most recently welcomed 3 great grandchildren, Jackson  Lovett, Violet Everett, and Sabena Romesburg.

The family will not be holding a service at this time. A celebration of a life well lived, along with a good meal and nice bottle of Fortissimo will follow at a later date.

We’d like to thank both Anne Arundel Medical Hospital Annapolis' Med-Surg (6th floor) Team and Hospice of Chesapeake, both of whom provided excellent support and care for Ambrose.
