Amber Dvorak-Pitts of Glen Burnie, MD, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, in Glen Burnie, MD. She was 76. Amber was born on February 17, 1948, in Belle Plaine, Iowa and was the daughter of the late Lester Dvorak and Mildred (nee Graham) Dvorak.
Amber was a kind and caring woman, with a sharp wit and a brilliant sense of humor. She absolutely loved to laugh, and her laughter was contagious. The second youngest of six girls, she spent her childhood on her family’s farm in Iowa and worked at the telephone switchboard before pursuing a successful nursing career. She flew on the MedEvac chopper, worked the ER, as well as a number of other positions. She met her husband, Lincoln, in Iowa and her only son was born at University of Iowa, the hospital where she worked. Several years later they moved east. She was wonderful, a truly nurturing mother. She supported her son tirelessly, and she loved watching him dance or hearing him sing and play piano. She retired from nursing but always retained the strong, fighting spirit she was so loved for. Even in the face of chronic illness she did everything she could to improve her condition. She was an inspiration to many, she helped countless more, and she was so deeply loved.
Amber was predeceased by her parents; husband of 34 years Lincoln Pitts; and sisters Wanda Barnes, Mary Anna Szabo, and Rita Dvorak-Weber; and survived by her loving son, Graham Pitts and husband (Evan), sisters Arlys Spading and Lavonne McPherson, nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
The family will receive friends on July 24, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Memorial Service starting at 2:00 pm. Click HERE to VIew Live Stream of Service.
