Madison Jean Smith

We said goodbye to our funny, fierce, and fun loving Madison, who passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2025 after a courageous 18 month battle with osteosarcoma. She was only 12 years old, but in those 12 short years, she enjoyed a life filled with love and laughter.

Madison was a force of nature! She never hesitated to speak her mind and was quick to school anyone who was out of line; mostly her dad and brother. She was happiest with a cat purring in her lap, digging for sand crabs at the beach, or getting muddy on a four-wheeler. She was adventurous, often the first to jump on a paddle board or leap from a rock in the river.

She taught us that bravery doesn’t mean silently suffering, that joy can be found in simple things like a favorite meal or a cat reel and that love can be shared in countless ways. She will be deeply missed by her parents, Ron and Kim Smith, her brother Mason Crist, grandparents Donnie and Fran Crist and Ron and Josie (predeceased) Smith, her beloved cats Haze and Teeter and a whole crew of family and friends who were lucky enough to know her.

The family will receive visitors at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., in Odenton, MD, on September 27, 2025 from 11 AM-1 PM. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donating to MIB Agents in her memory.  MIB Agents Is A Leading Pediatric Osteosarcoma Nonprofit Dedicated To Making It Better For Our Community Of Patients, Families, Medical Professionals, Researchers, And Industry Partners Through Programs, Education, And Research.

If you'd like to share a favorite photo or written memory/story about Madison, there will be a memory box to collect them.  Notecards will be provided at the visitation also.

Madison was known for wearing hoodies daily, so we invite attendees to wear their favorite hoodie in remembrance of Madison.
