On August 18, 2024, Lloyd Ray Givler, a resident of Millersville since 1979, passed away peacefully at home. Devoted husband of 62 years to the late Nancy Givler; Loving son of the late Harold and Ester Givler; Beloved father of Debbie A. Dinsmore of Millersville, Virginia L. Williams of Centreville, Linda S. Kiefer of Pennsylvania, Michelle A. Williams of Severna Park, and the late Richard L. Givler; Caring brother of Joanne Kestner, Donald Givler and his late twin brother Leon Givler; Cherished grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 15 with a set of great-grand twins on the way.
Born in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. In 1952 he enlisted in the United States Army with his twin brother Leon. Lloyd met his future bride Nancy at a USO dance at Ft. Devens, MA. Lloyd worked in the Army Security Agency as a Cryptologist. He served two tours in Vietnam and was a proud member of the 335th Radio Research Company. He kept in touch with his Army mates by attending reunions, and when his health wouldn’t permit him to go, his Army brothers would visit him at home. After retiring from the military, he sold real estate for Devan Realty, Champion, and eventually retired from Long & Foster.
Lloyd received his master’s degree from the University of Maryland. Having played football, baseball, and basketball in High School, he loved all sports. Lloyd umpired his son’s Little League and later the Army Baseball team at Ft. Meade. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed watching all sports on TV, especially his Yankees. He would often be found watching his teams in his favorite recliner. Lloyd liked maintaining his yard and would make sure he mowed the grass every Friday. He especially liked going out to dinner and playing cards with his friends.
