William "Bill" Miller, 82, of Gambrills Maryland passed away peacefully on January 1st, 2020.
He was born in Beckley West Virginia to William C. Miller and Dorothy Carr who were missionaries with the Salvation Army.
He is survived by his sister, RoseMary Fuller and brother John (and wife Sandra) Miller of Alabama, and his loving daughters Vickie (and husband Lee) Hampton of Pennsylvania, and Sherry (and husband Rocky) Netz of Utah. He is preceded in death by his first wife; the mother of his children, Betty Miller and his three sons, Dennis, Dean and Dale Miller and by his second wife, Lorraine Miller.
Bill has three grandsons, Urijah, Bronson and Kailas and four granddaughters, Shanon, Morrigan, Victoria and Caitlyn. Bill is also survived by three great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
Bill graduated from Vigor High School in Prichard Alabama and Auburn University for Electrical Engineering. In 1955 Bill heard his country's call and enlisted in the US Army. This would be the beginning of a long successful career in the military earning him many medals and honors.
He served tours in Korea ,Vietnam and Germany and graduated from the Sargent Majors Academy in 1978. He retired from the Army in 1982 and began a second career as a civilian, later retiring a second time from the Pentagon.
Bill enjoyed Polka dancing and for years could often be found on the dance floor at Blobs Park. He served for years as the President of the Spice of Life Dance Club and enjoyed bowling with the Maryland Polka Train. Bill also wrote songs, poetry and enjoyed woodworking and framing puzzles for his Church. His retirement was spent traveling the United States and he always found time to lend a helping hand to friends, family and strangers. He is loved and missed by many.
