Peter James Roupas

Peter “Pete” James Roupas of Laurel, MD passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Fulton, MD, at the age of 64.  Pete was born on May 14, 1953 in Washington, DC to the late James Nicholas Roupas and Ella Marie (Wilson) Roupas.

Pete was a very generous person, who has excelled in many areas.

In grade school he won awards for science fairs. He was always curious about how things worked; and loved to figure things out.

He graduated from Crossland High School in 1971.  At age 13 he got his own paper route, and delivered papers on foot.  Once he was able to drive, he got a bigger route.  He finally became an independent paper carrier for the Washington Post sometime in 1985.

He worked for Pohanka Oldsmobile for numerous years, where he received awards as a master mechanic.  In 2008 Pete became a Contractual Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service at the Fulton, Maryland Post Office.  He continued working there up until his death.

In 2013 he started attending Howard County Community College.  He loved to be challenged, so he took multiple Mathematical courses.  He was a straight "A" student; and qualified as an accountant; or substitute teacher.

He truly enjoyed going to the beach each summer for vacation.  He looked forward to para sailing, riding the banana boat over the waves and the rides at the carnival.

Most of all, Pete loved steak and lobster.  He loved to visit the finer steak and seafood restaurants in Charm City.  Flemings, and Morton’s were his favorites.

Pete, you will be missed very much by all of us that personally knew, worked and loved you.  

Pete is survived by his step-daughter, Nina M. Bryan of Glen Burnie, MD.

Family and Friends will gather at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike (Route 108), Clarksville, MD 21029 on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to celebrate Pete’s life.  Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested sending a living plant.
