I knew Marlin to always have a smile and helpful word for me when we talked. His sincerity and graciousness will be missed. We are all the poorer for having had him taken from us, but all the richer for having known him, and for having been befriended by him. I pray for grace. strength and peace to his family, and that they be comforted by the Lord in their time of sorrow.

My Marlin, My Big Brother, My Mr. Nice Guy, My Gentle Giant!!

I cannot believe that you are no longer with us. This seems so much like a dream but I know that GOD does not make mistakes. I know that he needed you more. I’m not going to lie, this hurts so much. My heart is completely crushed. You were more to me than a co-worker, you were my FRIEND! From day one at CareFirst, (over 13 years ago) I knew that we would have a friendship like no other. You told me that you owed me so much for helping you in the training class.  I would say, no you don’t Marlin, that’s what they pay me for and you would say they must pay you a lot and from then, I knew that our bond would last forever. Even after we went our separate ways within CareFirst, we always kept in touch.

Mrs. Ford: You raised an awesome, well rounded young man. Thank you for sharing him with us. He touched so many lives in this world. I pray for your strength to help you through the pain of your loss.

Mrs. Shalina Ford: Marlin talked about you so much and loved you dearly. I pray for your strength to help you through this pain and the loss of your soulmate.

Marie: Please know that daddy loved you so much. He talked about you often and would light up as soon as I asked him about you. He still couldn’t believe he was a father.

Marlin – Goodbye my friend. The last conversation that we had was about celebrating my promotion about 2 weeks ago. You said” don’t forget about us little people on your way up”, I won’t Marlin and I will still celebrate just for you!!!

I love you and will miss you dearly especially that SMILE…. Rest peacefully…Until we meet again!!

I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear the news of Marlin's passing. As an independent broker and friend it has been I the greatest pleasure to work with him and play many rounds of golf together. I never had an opportunity to meet his family but did share in his joy and delight at the birth of his daughter. He was quite the proud father. To the family please accept my heartfelt condolences. Marlin will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. May God grant you peace! Amen.

Unbelievably sad to lose Marlin. He had a genuine way of making me feel as I were the most important person in the world at the moment he was talking with me. He was one of the most kind, generous, caring and respectful men I have known. The world lost that beautiful smile and engaging laugh, but his memories will live on in my mind and heart. The Good Lord is lucky to have him! My sincere prayers go out to his wife and baby girl. May God Bless you and shine his light upon you both.

Marlin was such a true gentleman. He was always so polite and professional and always finished the conversation with "always a pleasure" which I truly believed he meant! I know he loved his family as he talked so fondly of them. My heart is so sad to learn of his passing. May you find peace in knowing that God must have needed a good soul at this time! Prayers for the entire family. Hugs, Kim Haines

Marlin could brighten anyone’s day. What a true gentleman. Devote father and spouse. He will truly be missed. Prayers go out to his family and friends. In this time of grief and morning, I think of the quote by Martin Luther King Jr., “The quality, not the longevity, of one’s life is what is important”. The quality of life that Marlin showed me is an example on what I need to strive for.

Marlin was a very respectable person always making you smile on a rough day. May the love of God comfort during this time. 2 Corinthians 5:8- We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Rest in peace Marlin for your labor was not in vein! With Love Lititca Brown and Family

To the family of Marlin

I have know Marlin for approximately 15 years now going back to our days with AT&T. To say I was shocked by the news of his passing is an understatement. I enjoyed many of laughs out on the golf course with him as well as in the office. He loved his family and would proudly show me pictures of his beautiful daughter when we asked about one another's children. He certainly will be missed in the business world but personally I will miss him as a friend as well. RIP my friend you were one of a kind.

I was Marlin's supervisor when he was a New Hire in Training and when he transitioned from training to the Customer Service Department.

To Ms. Celestine Ford,

You raised and trained up a great, well rounded, intelligent, kind, hardworking GENTLEMAN. Marlin is well respected by the internal associates and the external customers he served each day. Marlin always maintained a high level of professionalism and he was always respectful and approachable. The CareFirst customers commended Marlin often for his patience and assistance. Marlin had one of the highest Talk Times in Service as he took time attending to each member concern. Now this is actually (funny) because he was always coached to reduce his Talk Time; however, he never met that goal. Instead, Marlin went over and above to resolve all customer concerns regardless of the time that it took. I solute you Ms. Ford for raising a son that made MAJOR contributions as a relative, classmate, student, husband, father, employee, sports enthusiast and American Citizen. "Well Done Mrs. Ford" You raised a Gentle Giant in stature with a HUGE heart for mankind.

Mrs. Shalina Ford,

Marlin shared his love story with me in 2005 regarding meeting you at Howard University, falling head over heels in love with you, and then rushing to Las Vegas to marry you because he was Soooooo in LOVE with you. When he shared your love story with me he maintained that he was still deeply in love with you and wanted to make you happy. In 2008, he sent me pictures of the 2 of you at President Barack Obama's Inauguration Ball and he referred to you in the email as his Lovely and Beautiful wife. Might I add, you looked amazing "Go Girl". He always referred to you as his LOVELY wife. I saw Marlin a few months ago and he showed me a treasure that you were both given from the Lord Above, your baby girl Marie and wouldn’t you know it she looks like her Dad. He referred to you as amazing the last time that we spoke. You were gifted with a man that did everything he could to make your life Better, Rich, Fulfilled, Fun, Complete and WONDERFUL. Treasure your GREAT Gift ALWAYS and 4Ever.

With Every Good Wish to you, Ms. Ford, Marie and everyone dear to the 2 of you,
Donna
