Kathy Ann Treese of Pasadena, MD, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Kathy was born on March 2, 1955 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of the late Clymer and Anna Bitner. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donald “Donn” Treese and their two daughters, Shannon Voigt of Severn, and Ann McCoy of Millersville. Kathy has five wonderful grandchildren; Madisyn McCoy, Donald “Trey” McCoy, Reagan McCoy, Corinne Voigt, and Kyle Voigt. Kathy was preceded in death by her son Donald “Chip” Treese II.
Kathy was a wife, a mother, a grandmother (Oma), a sister to three brothers and three sisters, a friend, and one of God’s disciples. Kathy accompanied her husband around the globe as he served in the U.S. Army. After settling in the local area, she worked for the Department of the Army for over 30 years before retiring a few short years ago.
Kathy was a true counselor to many. Family members, friends, coworkers, and fellow Christians sought her out. She never lost an opportunity to share her faith. She led Bible study classes until she was no longer able. Her graceful battle with cancer was often cited by others as a true representation of God’s grace. Her courage and strength were inspirational to many. She often told family and friends that when faced with choices, choose joy!
Kathy was masterful at creating memories everywhere in her family. She loved spending hours and hours with her grandchildren. She planned elaborate family gatherings that were loud with laughter and full of fun. Memories for a lifetime.
Kathy also spent many hours with her favorite pastime--card making. She occasionally enjoyed scrapbooking, and other paper crafts. She accompanied her daughters and grandchildren on several craft adventures often bringing home art that she called “dreadful”. Yet it hangs in her house because her husband loved it.
However, Kathy’s favorite time was alone time with love of her life, her husband Donn. She loved the quiet time together. As a couple, they enjoyed traveling to distant locations exploring our country’s sights, just relaxing at the beach, or watching Steelers football.
