Jennie M. Porrazzo

Jennie M. Porrazzo of Odenton, MD passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Chesapeake Mandrin Hospice House, at the age of 93.  Jennie was born on August 19, 1924 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Umberto and Lena Parisi.

She began a career at Metropolitan Life in Poughkeepsie. She moved to Washington, DC in 1952 with her new husband, Al where they made a wonderful life together. She worked for awhile here until they started a family; moved to Lanham, MD and became involved in St. Mary’s Church, Landover Hills. This community became home for 45 years. Between the Sodality of Our Lady and the school, Jennie spent many hours volunteering alongside others that would be life long friends. 

She was a loving wife and mother. She welcomed the next generation as a devoted Grandmother to her two granddaughters. Family was very important to her and a central part of her life. She will be dearly missed. 

Mrs. Porrazzo is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Alfred M. Porrazzo; her son, Mark S. Porrazzo and daughter, Jennifer P. Chretien (husband Michael); and her two granddaughters Emily Ann and Lena Simone Chretien. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1283 Odenton Road, Odenton, MD 21113 where A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Interment Services will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mandrin Hospice House, 3675 Solomons Island Rd., Harwood, MD 20776.
