He was predeceased by his parents by Elmer and Rose Jewell and his brothers Carl and Elmer Jr.

Jim belonged to the Electrical Workers Trust Fund Local Union 26. He was a member of The Church at Severn Run and actively participated in the World Changers, travelling to New Orleans, Puerto Rico, Alaska, and New York as a missionary.  Jim was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with his family. His artistic talent was evident in his carvings, artwork, and painting.  Most especially, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family.
