Elizabeth Anne Wesley, known as Liz by her husband and friends, Mom by her children, and Granny by her grand-daughters passed away on September 7, 2018. She was 82 years old.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1936 to Clayton and Gertrude McAdams, Elizabeth grew up in a number of cities and small towns both in the United States and overseas. She attended the University of Alabama where she met her future husband William Olen Wesley. In 1958 they married and moved to Maryland where they raised two children (William Jr. and Cynthia). In Maryland, Elizabeth enjoyed teaching school, playing golf, playing tennis, and playing bridge. She was an active member and served in leadership roles with the Crofton Women’s Golf Association, the Crofton Garden Club and the Crofton Community United Methodist Church. After retiring in 1994, Elizabeth and Willam made three trips in their sailboat to Florida and one trip to the Bahamas.
Of everything in her life Elizabeth found the greatest joy in raising her two children. She was very involved in their lives no matter what the activity. Whether it was celebrating a success or helping with a challenge she was always there for them. Later in life she found an even greater joy while sharing her love and spending time with her three grand-daughters Allyson, Nicole and Rachel. Granny was very active in their lives and she always had something fun for them to do every time they were able to visit. Liz, Mom and Granny touched a number of people over the course of her life. Her gentle nature and unconditional love will be greatly missed.
Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband William Olen Wesley Sr.; devoted children William Olen Wesley Jr. and his wife Melanie, Cynthia W. Haskett and her husband Rick; loving granddaughters Allyson and Rachel Wesley, Nicole Stark; dear brother George McAdams and his wife Carol
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, her mother and her brother Clayton A. McAdams, Jr.
