Cecil Vernon Schrock, 80, a resident of Severn, Maryland, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017. Cecil was born on January 13, 1937, in Yoder, Kansas, as the second of eight children to Tobias and Florence Schrock. He later moved to La Junta, Colorado, and enlisted in the United States Navy. After serving as a Chief Petty Officer, Cecil attended Johns Hopkins University where he earned a degree in Structural Engineering. He worked as an accomplished Structural Engineer for Anne Arundel County until he retired to take care of his late wife, Martha “Dolly” Schrock, who suffered from Alzheimer’s for 15 years. Cecil and Dolly shared one daughter together, Debbie, who had Cecil’s only grandson, Jesse. When Jesse was a baby, he began to call Cecil “Popie,” which grew to be the name most of his family and friends called him. Later in his retirement, Cecil fell in love and married his current wife Patsy, with whom he enjoyed the last decade of life. Cecil loved nothing more than family dinners every Friday, bowling on two different leagues every week with his wife Patsy and daughter Debbie, attending Baltimore Orioles games as a season ticket holder, and spending as much time as possible with grandson Jesse, as well as his brand new great-grandson Liam.
Cecil is survived by his wife Patsy; his brothers Larry, Jimmy, and Tommy; his sister Kay; his daughter Debbie and her husband Tom; his grandson Jesse and his wife Alison; and his great- grandson Liam.
