Robert Paul Jones of Lothian, MD. Born October 26, 1933, in Washington, D.C., passed away on September 25, 2022. He was the son of the late Lloyd L. and Pauline A. Jones. He was the husband of the late Claudia Jean Jones. He was predeceased by his sisters Patricia Privett and Ann Fowler, daughter Cheryl Ann Waxman, granddaughters Julie Marie Brown and Rhiannon Howes and one great-grandson. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene (Roger) Hawes of Smithsburg, MD, and sons Randy Paul Brown of Frederick, MD, Richard Lloyd Brown of Silver Spring, MD, and John (Betty) Howes of Melbourne, FL. He also leaves behind his longtime companion Betty Alt of Gambrills, MD, along with her family Cindy, Mike, Ryan, and Lindsey Drabick. Robert enjoyed spending time with his large family including his 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 7 nieces and a nephew and many extended families. Robert loved Westerns, model trains, and boats. His favorite times were spent on the water and building his many train layouts for both him and the grandchildren. He was a Union man, devoting over 40 years to Western Electric, now AT&T. A member of the American Legion, he served during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.
The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 11:00 am Nichols- Bethel United Methodist Church, 1239 Murray Road, Odenton, MD 21113. Interment will be on Thursday, October 27, 2022 , 1:00 pm, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
