Irene Naples Obituary

Irene C. Naples, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2021, at her home in Crofton, MD, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, she had primarily lived in Delaware Township for 25 years and in Cape May for 7 years. She graduated from Trenton High School and attended Rider College for advanced business courses. She began her career as a hairstylist and owner/operator of Avalon Hair Salon in Trenton. She also worked for 5 years as a stenographer at the Trenton Armory. Furthermore, Mrs. Naples worked as an Office Manager for Arvid Myhre Construction in Flemington, and operated an antique shop at the Pennytown Shopping Village. She felt that her most cherished accomplishments, however, were as a wife, mother, grandmother ("nonna"), sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and confidante to her many loved ones.

Daughter of the late Victor and Alba Gizzi Rossi, and stepdaughter of the late Chester DeSantis, she is preceeded in death by her husband Samuel Frank Naples, and her brother John V. Rossi (Lorraine). She is survived by her son Chester J. Naples (Lisa) of Lawrenceville, her daughter Alba Dawn Naples of Crofton, MD, and her beloved grandson Matthew Naples of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by her nephews Michael Rossi (Terry) of Delran, NJ, John Rossi of Daytona Beach, Florida, Victor Rossi of Miami, Florida, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

While growing up, her main hobbies included cheerleading, dancing, ballet, swimming, listening to Frank Sinatra, and frequenting Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore.

Later in life, her favorite pastimes included interior decorating, oil painting, flower arranging, christmas wreath/bow/ornament making, and walking "the boards" in Cape May with her family and pups. Her interior design was by far her most passionate pastime, decorating her many old and new homes from the fields of Hunterdon County, to the shores of Island Heights, Brigantine, Forked River, Greenwich, Cape May, and Annapolis, MD. She also reveled in dining at fine restaurants as well as at casual dockside establishments on the Chesapeake Bay. Mrs. Naples enjoyed entertaining, cooking and baking specialty Italian meals for her family/friends during the holidays.

She also loved her many road trips with her family to Cape Cod, MA, Miami, Florida, and of course anywhere along the Jersey Shore to eat lobster. She claimed that the salt and sea air made her feel healthy and happy. Also, she adored going to NYC Broadway plays, and to the Russian Ballets at the Kennedy Center. As a devoted Christian, Mrs. Naples loved watching her evangelical tv shows such as Billy Graham, Jimmy Swaggart, and John Hagee, as well as watching the "political" commentaries on Fox and CNN News.
Finally, she lived her life by the mottos, "Family First" and "Trust in the Lord".

An interment service under the direction of the Garefino Funeral Home, Lambertville, NJ, is anticipated at a future date, to be held at the Sandy Ridge Cemetery, Stockton, NJ. Details to follow.
