Howard Culver Jr. Obituary

Howard “Howie” Edison Culver Jr. passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021, at the age of 82.

Howie was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 16, 1938, to Howard and Thelma Culver, Sr. In 1959 he met the love of his life, A. Catherine Doughty.  They were married and lived together in Harmans, MD for over 60 years.   He was a devoted father of A. Scott Culver and his wife Lora B. Culver, father-in-law to Rachel B. Culver, and caring brother of William D. Culver; cherished grandfather of Alexander Edison Culver and his wife Jacquelyn Culver, Jacob Alan Culver, and Emily Helen Culver. He was predeceased by his son Patrick R. Culver.

Howie’s life was devoted to his family and service to others.  He served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was an involved father who championed his sons’ interests, serving as PTA President, Meade Band Booster President, and as an Assistant Scoutmaster just to name a few.  He was a loving and supporting “Pop” to his grandchildren, who also focused on their interests and accomplishments, attending every band concert, baseball game, and scouting event, etc., he could. He also loved being a Mason and later in life served and was a Past Master of the Odenton, MD Masonic Lodge.

Howie was creative and an industrious do-it-yourselfer, who could build, fix, or repair just about anything he put his mind to.  During his working years, he held several jobs in the transportation & logistics industry at BWI, and the Port of Baltimore.

He enjoyed music, sporting events, various hobbies, and travel.  Most of all, Howie enjoyed being with his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a strong, good, and proud man who laughed easily, was exceptionally generous with his compliments and his time.

Due to COVID restrictions, please reach out to the family for service details.
