Virginia G. Fowler, a resident of Laurel, MD, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Waugh Chapel Center in Gambills, MD. She was 90. Virginia was born on January 15, 1927 in New Cumberland, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Russel Freeman and Velma (nee Hanning) Freeman.
Virginia achieved her goal to live independently and continued to enjoy the outdoors, friends and family, ice cream and her one pony bottle of Miller Highlife at dinner, until hospitalized two weeks before her death. Virginia contributed to the lives of many people through the years, having worked in day-care until her retirement in 1992. Many of the children she helped raise are now adults who brought their children to visit with “Gram”. She is much loved and has provided warm memories for many. Virginia went by many names, Gardner, Mom, loyal Friend, Community Citizen, Gram and Daughter of the God she served.
Virginia is survived by her loving children, Michael and Sharon Fowler, Robert and Marilyn Fowler, Cathy Williams, Susan and Howard Schlosberg, Paula and Jim Doyle, Terri and Ralph Groff and Stephen Withrow; 14 beloved grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Fowler, daughter, Donna Withrow, grandson, J.D. Doyle, and sons-in law, Edward Sargent and Raymond Hudson.
The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00am. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00. Interment will be private.
