Remembering our Mom
Veena was the eldest of five children. She grew up in Delhi, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Indraprastha College in 1956.
She married our Dad, Dr. Kewal Kohli in May 1958. She migrated to USA in 1971. In 1990 at the age of 52, she made us extremely proud by completing her bachelor of science in Psychology. She worked as a social worker for the Children and Youth Services in Pittsburgh for several years before moving on to another fun loving career as a grandmother to Maryland in 2010. Her passions included painting elaborate batik designs, singing, kathak dance which she studied in 1957 and going on forced long walk with her daughter. She loved watching Indian movies particularly old classics, leaving little time for insignificant chores like cooking. Our father thus mastered the art of cooking to survive.
Her wonderful sense of humor, booming laughter, countless hugs to everyone who tended to her, and constant smile will be missed immensely by all who knew her. Her favorite saying was "Let's go huggin and kissin in the moonlight " as she played with her nieces, nephews, and grandkids. We as a family feel blessed by her loving presence.
leaves behind a devoted husband, three daughters, 2 grandkids on her journey to reunite with her beloved son Inder and precious puppy son Sheru.
