On December 14, 2014, Vance N. Remillard passed away at the age of 73. Born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan and raised in Lake Linden, Michigan, Vance has been a resident of Anne Arundel County since 1971. Baptized as Ronald, when he became a member of the Capuchin Order of Franciscan Priests of Wisconsin, his name was changed to Father Vance. After nine years, when he was dispensed from his vows, he decided to keep the name Vance. As a teenager, Vance was an Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow. Later he attended the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University in Chicago and later received his Masters in Applied Public Financial Management from American University in Washington, D.C. Vance worked as the Director of Training for the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Immigration and Naturalization; he retired after 30 years of service. He was President of Townhouse Community in Crofton for two years; President of Tanager Forest Civic Association for one year; President of Parish Council of Our Lady of the Fields Church for one year and also served on the County Board of Appeals. Vance proudly lived a life in service of God and country. He enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing and most especially, spending time with his grandchildren.
Vance is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Ann-Marie Remillard (nee Hoffman); his beloved children Renee A. Hilmi of Virginia and Ronald E. Remillard of Crownsville; his loving siblings Larry Remillard of Michigan and Carol Perreault of Indiana and his cherished grandchildren Luay and Laith Hilmi and Alana Remillard. He was predeceased by his parents Norbert and Cecile Remillard Perreault and his step-father Wilfred Perreault .
