SFC Tommy Robinson, Jr. passed away on November 27, 2017 at his home in Severn, Maryland surrounded by his family. He is the son of Narzell Robinson and the late Tommie L. Robinson. He was an honored and celebrated Soldier with 24 years of Active Duty Service. SFC Robinson leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Irma Glenda Robinson; their children Khaleed Robinson and Kiera Robinson; four devoted brothers, David Robinson (Loretta), Thomas Robinson (Roney), Tony Robinson (Loretta), and Johnny Swopes (Kathleen); two cherished sisters, Birtha Robinson and Mary Swopes and a host of nieces and nephews. Tommy is preceded in death by his two brothers, Leroy and Earl Robinson and his sister, Amie Butler.

Tommy was born in Florida and spent most of his formative years in the small town of Campbellton, Florida, where he graduated from Graceville High School Class of 1985 and was well known for his stardom in Track and Field. He later moved to California and attended San Diego City College to complete his Associates Degree and later pursue his Bachelors studies at San Diego State University, where he fell in love with and married Glenda, whom he fondly referred to as his “Belizean Queen”. Under the guidance and mentorship of his brother David Robinson, Tommy pursued his Active Duty Military career in the U.S. Army. Tommy’s most cherished accomplishments in the Army were becoming a Drill Sergeant where he molded and guided young civilians into becoming disciplined Soldiers and earning his certification as a Protocol Officer just last year. Tommy had the opportunity to serve at various locations throughout his military career including, Fort Sam Houston, TX, Fort Hood, TX, South Korea, Fort Sill, OK, White House Communications Agency, Afghanistan, JS Pentagon, Fort Meade, MD and ultimately Warrior Transition Brigade, WRNMMC.

While balancing his military and personal life, Tommy made sure to spend quality time with his Family. He enjoyed traveling, cruising, going to the movies, singing Karaoke, and watching his favorite TV shows, Blackish, Jeopardy and The Daily Show, just to name a few.  But his most favorite daddy-daughter moment was watching Blindspot with his beloved daughter Kiera. He also loved to find ways to become a better person by watching motivational videos and researching quotes which led to him giving his kids loads of “life lessons” that they will never be able to forget even if they tried. He enjoyed the long talks with his mother, brothers, sister and other family members about their roots and learning about their heritage and appointed himself as the Family’s Historian. He also enjoyed running and he completed several marathons, Army 10 Milers, and was joined by his entire family at numerous 5K races at Fort Meade.

Tommy had a dynamic voice that could easily be described as one that could “move mountains” or “give you chills”. He was very passionate about conducting military ceremonies and became known as “The Voice” throughout the military installations around the DC/MD/VA area and was sought after for his superb rendition of “Old Glory”.

He was a loving, devoted, and caring soul who managed to touch the lives of so many people. His love for different cultures and languages brought him closer to even many more people. Tommy was many different things to many different people, but everyone can agree that he was the type of person that we all wanted in our lives and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. May he Rest in Peace.
