Shasikala Ramanlal Sheth was born on August 15, 1927 in Chikhli, India. She was one of ten siblings – four brothers and six sisters – to Venilal and Vijya Sheth. She obtained a high school degree during a time when women did not have an opportunity to go to school. She was a kindergarten teacher for many years, a profession she loved. She was also the vice president of a women’s group, demonstrating her leadership skills at a very young age.
In 1987, Shasikala and her husband Ramanlal, immigrated to the United States to live with their oldest son, Dinesh and his family. Shasikala devoted most of her days in the U.S. doing seva, reading, talking on the phone, taking care of her grandchildren, watching her favorite TV shows, and simply enjoying life. She was a happy, vibrant, and social woman.
She will be greatly missed by her children Dinesh, Nilesh, and Pallavi; her daughters-in-law Devyani and Sangeeta and son-in-law Rajan; her grandchildren Karishma, Sameep, Jigar, Chintan, Hetvi, Payal, and Bhoomi; and six great grandchildren.
She left this world peacefully with her family by her side. Those who were fortunate enough to have known her will treasure the many great memories they had together. She will forever live in our hearts and will be greatly missed. May her soul rest in peace.
