Pete had become part of our family from the day I started working with him at the Fulton Post Office in 2008. We spent many holidays, birthdays, weddings, graduations and other occasions together in our family with him. Our birthdays were 2 days apart, and we were recipients of his generosity and had the pleasure of enjoying his favorite steak house in Baltimore for dinner with him one evening to celebrate them. The food was amazing and we had fun time, as we did every time we spent time together. In our home, He loved doing puzzles with the family, we played many games as a family with him, ( my grown kids and grandkids included). He loved Monopoly and Chess in particular. Being the quiet man he was, it was sweet watching him interact and enjoy my grandkids and my daughters and their husbands as much as he did. My grandkids loved telling him all about their little lives and he listened, sometimes nodded off, but they didnt mind. They playing games with "Mr Pete" too. He was incredibly smart and never made you feel uncomfortable. He was really quite friendly and talkative once you got to know him. He did have a shy quiet side and had to be drawn out, but once you did, he was funny, intelligent, informative and really helpful. To say we miss him is an understatement!!
Our family has lost a dear friend and adopted family member. We will always miss "Mr Pete" ( as the grandkids said) at each family gathering he usually spent with us.

Rest in peace my friend. I wish I was aware of the pain that you were carrying. Peace and rest to you and see you in a minute.

Pete was an interesting, shy and funny person that I will continue to miss every day. Besides other shenanigans, I will always remember us staging an act of surprise when we would run into each other under very expected circumstances, either at work, at highs etc. and would each exclaim, "What are YOU doing here?!"

Pete is sorely missed and to all, my only advice in this journey is to be gentle with yourselves.
