Lesley Ellen Burr, a beautiful wife, mother, sister, friend, educator, grandma, and hero passed away on June 9, 2016 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Ruth and Norman Bush (both deceased). Lesley grew up in a military family and traveled the world at a young age. She graduated from North Middlesex Regional School in Massachusetts in 1972. Lesley met her soul mate, Arnold Burr, and they married in 1981. Lesley attended Worcester Junior College in Massachusetts, earning her Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Management in 1979. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 2008. With the completion of her BA, Lesley became certified as a Special Education Teacher at Harman Elementary. Lesley always appreciated the opportunity to continue learning. She went on to earn her Master of Science Degree in Special Education from McDaniel College in 2012. Lesley not only loved to learn, but she loved to teach and inspire students.

Her tremendous career at Harman Elementary impacted students, parents, peers, and the Anne Arundel County Public School System. Lesley’s former students frequently returned to Harman Elementary just to visit Mrs. Burr and thank her for being a wonderful educator. Throughout Lesley’s career, she encouraged students to reach their fullest potential in life.

Throughout their 35 years of marriage, Lesley and Arnold nurtured a strong and well-bonded family. Lesley leaves behind her devoted husband, three loving children: David (Alisha), Matthew, and Caitlin; eight loving step-children: Wendell Sr. (Dinishea), Mark Sr., Theresa (George), Tonya, Alesia, Arnold Sr., Karen, and Karl Sr. (Taria); and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, Lesley leaves behind her loving brother, Larry (Lynne); step brothers, Michael (Cynthia), Martin (Kim), and Harold; step sister, Shelly; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.

Lesley will be forever in our hearts, her legacy of love will continue, and she will be truly missed.
