Dr. Dipin Gupta of Clarksville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Howard County General Hospital. He was 44.
Dr. Gupta practiced as a cardiothoracic surgeon at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Specializing in minimally invasive heart surgery, including valve replacement and bypass surgery, he was not only well respected by his colleagues for his expertise but also adored by his family, friends, and community for his humility, compassion, humor, and giving nature. Those who know him will agree that in his short life, he accomplished everything he set his mind to.
Dr. Gupta was born on July 12, 1974 in Dehradun, India, grew up in Kennewick, Washington, and was the son of Raj and Mona Gupta of Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and was proud to be captain of his high school tennis team for four years. He completed medical school at Jefferson Medical College as part of the six-year BS/MD program and residency at Temple University Hospital, both in Philadelphia, PA. Following this, he completed a two-year fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at New York University Medical Center. His surgical expertise earned him a teaching award from the Temple residents and recognition as a “Top Doc” by Richmond magazine from 2009 – 2014. He also earned an MBA during his residency years.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his beloved wife, Namrata Gupta; three loving children Sonya, Serena, and Nikhil Gupta; devoted brother and wife, Nitin and Shamira Gupta, and many loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
