Diane H. Jones

Diane H. Jones of Odenton, MD passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, at the age of 74.  Diane was born on June 9, 1941 in Washington, D.C. to the late Joseph Halsted Hopping and Loretta (Young) Hopping.

Diane spent her early life growing up in the Washington, D.C. area where she graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School.  She then went on to attend American University. She worked as a secretary at many local companies including the University of Maryland at the office of Institutional Planning and Research for seven years.  She then went on to become an executive assistant at the American Bar Association for sixteen years.  Upon retirement from the ABA she became the secretary at Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church for the last ten years.  Diane was an avid reader, who also had many hobbies including knitting with dear friends, shopping and cheering on her Redskins. Her many pets brought much joy to her life.  She loved her family, friends and all children as if they were her own. Diane was a very loving person who was near and dear to all her family and friends. Diane will be greatly missed by all.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Monique Steckert and her husband, Rob of Pasadena, MD; brother, Kenneth H. Hopping and his wife, Mary of Cincinnati, OH; nephew, Ryan M. Hopping and his wife, Michelle of Shrewsbury, MA; niece, Emily A. Hopping and her husband, Kelly J. Liming of Cincinnati, OH; a great-niece, Karina and five great-nephews, Tyler, Carter, Austin, Grant and Aaron.  Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 28 years, Theodore Jones.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church, 1239 Murray Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.   Interment will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.
