Ann Gallacher (Gallacher) Petty

Ann Gallacher Petty, resident of Odenton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at her home. She was born on October 23, 1961, in Motherwell, Scotland, and was the daughter of the late William Gallacher and Annie (nee Menzies) Gallacher.

Ann is survived by her devoted husband, Roy S. Petty; two loving children, Collin R. Petty and Erin A. Petty; beloved sister, Wilma Graham; two caring nephews, Scott and Ross Graham; cherished Aunt Jean Menzies of Waukesha, Wisconsin; as well many extended family members, in the United Kingdom.

Ann was raised in Scotland and first came to the United States to complete high school, while living with her Aunt Jean in WI. After graduation, from Waukesha High School, she returned to Scotland for a few years, before immigrating to Toronto, Canada. Ann later immigrated to the United States, initially settling in LaJolla, CA, where she eventually met and married Roy. As a Navy family, Roy and Ann, lived in San Diego, Maryland, South Korea, Rhode Island and for many years in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

In addition to raising their children, Ann's proudest moments were when she completed her Registered Nursing education, and cared for patients, at Sentara, Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Ann's family held a private ceremony on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in Odenton, Maryland. A Memorial Service will be open to all friends and family at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, located at 3201 Edinburgh Dr., VA Beach, 23452, on Saturday, January, 21, 2017, at 1:00p.m.
